Otokei Privacy Policy

Wolvensoft is the umbrella brand for Otokei and Robert Blair’s other apps. Robert Blair remains the developer and publisher.

Effective date: 2026-10-23

Who is responsible?

Robert Blair, based in France, is responsible for the personal data processed to handle Otokei support requests and operate the Otokei website. Wolvensoft is the umbrella brand used for Otokei; it is not identified here as a separate legal entity. You can contact Robert at [email protected] about privacy and your rights.

This policy covers local app information, connections to Apple services, support correspondence and this website. Apple and other services also process information for their own purposes under their own privacy notices.

Information kept on your device

The app stores player preferences, customisation settings and local library information on your device. You do not need a developer-operated account.

When you import audio through My Files, the app copies the selected files into its local library and stores the metadata and artwork needed to display and play them. These imported files are not uploaded to a developer-operated server.

When you choose a photo for customisation, the app stores a resized copy locally. Preferences, now-playing information and artwork used by the widget may be shared between the app and widget through local shared storage.

Device backups may include app data depending on your Apple device and backup settings. Files selected from iCloud Drive or another Files provider are subject to that provider's storage and privacy practices. The developer does not operate a cloud-sync service for imported music.

Apple Music and purchases

With your permission, the app uses Apple's MusicKit services to access music-library information and Apple Music features. Catalog searches, artist information, artwork downloads and playback can involve connections to Apple's services or the artwork locations they provide.

When you choose the corresponding actions, the app can add songs or albums to your Apple Music library, add songs to playlists, and create playlists through Apple's services. These changes are associated with your Apple Music library; they are not sent to a developer-operated music database.

Apple Music requires an eligible subscription, separate from Full App Unlock. You can manage Music access in your device's Settings. The four-chapter Artist experience uses Apple Music catalog information. Importing a file does not upload it to Apple Music to create an artist page.

Apple processes purchases and restores through the App Store. The app checks verified purchase information to determine premium access. The developer does not receive your payment-card details through this purchase flow. Apple holds its own service and transaction records.

Advertising and diagnostics

The app has no advertising or third-party advertising or analytics SDKs. It does not track you across other companies' apps or websites, sell your personal information, or upload your listening history to a developer-operated analytics service.

Apple's MetricKit framework saves performance measurements and crash or hang diagnostics locally. This archive is limited to 40 files; older files are removed as new files are added. The app does not automatically send these archived files to the developer.

The 40-file limit applies to the combined local archive and is not a fixed retention period in days.

If you choose to share analytics with app developers in your Apple device settings, Apple may make crash, performance and usage information about Otokei available to us in aggregated or non-personally-identifying form. We use Apple’s tools to investigate reliability and performance and understand aggregate app usage. We do not use these reports for advertising or attempt to identify you. You can manage sharing in Settings > Privacy & Security > Analytics & Improvements > Share With App Developers. We initially keep this work within Apple’s tools, without routine report downloads or sharing to other services. Apple’s independently retained records follow its own privacy practices; we do not control all of those records. Otokei’s own MetricKit diagnostic files remain on your device and are not automatically uploaded to us.

TestFlight beta testing

If you test Otokei through TestFlight, Apple makes beta-testing information available to Robert. Depending on the invitation and feedback, this can include your name and email address, installation/session counts, app and OS versions, device details, crash feedback, comments and screenshots. Robert can view identifiable crash feedback and screenshot feedback in App Store Connect. TestFlight's collection differs from the app's local MetricKit archive.

Robert uses this information to investigate bugs and improve the beta app, and does not keep downloaded copies of the reports or feedback. Apple's TestFlight privacy notice describes its processing. Apple states that it retains beta feedback for one year and may retain crash-log and usage information until bugs are resolved. The 12-month support-mailbox period below does not describe all TestFlight records.

Identifiable TestFlight feedback under Robert’s control is deleted within 12 months after the reported issue is resolved, and sooner when it is no longer needed. This includes any copies kept by Robert. Apple’s independently retained records remain subject to its own policy.

Support correspondence

If you email support, Robert receives your email address and the information you choose to provide, such as your device model, app version, screenshots or a problem description. This information is used to answer your request and resolve the issue. Support email is received and stored using the consumer Gmail service at [email protected]. Robert Blair decides how correspondence is used to handle your request. Google also processes information to provide and operate its service under its Privacy Policy. This mailbox is not a Google Workspace account.

Providing information is voluntary. Without a reply address and enough relevant details, it may not be possible to answer or troubleshoot your request. Please avoid sending passwords, payment-card details, private music files or sensitive information unnecessary for support. There is no need to send the song itself to report an import problem.

Support correspondence, including received messages, attachments and sent replies, is deleted from the support mailbox within 12 months after the request is closed. You can request earlier deletion by email. Information may be retained longer where necessary for an applicable legal obligation or an ongoing dispute, limited to the information needed for that purpose. Our deletion commitment covers messages and copies under our control, including the mailbox's Trash; archiving a message is not deletion. Gmail normally keeps messages moved to Trash recoverable for 30 days unless they are permanently deleted sooner. Deletion from our account does not mean immediate erasure from all Google systems. Google's retention information describes a deletion process generally taking around two months and encrypted backups retaining data for up to six months, with possible delays and longer retention for specified purposes. These are Google's general descriptions, not a guaranteed purge deadline for each support message.

Retention review

We record when a support or beta-feedback matter is resolved and review records monthly. We delete records under our control when they are no longer needed and, ordinarily, no later than 12 months after resolution. This covers relevant received and sent messages, attachments and any copies we hold. A specific legal obligation or dispute may require limited longer retention. Apple's independently retained TestFlight records and providers' backup or deletion processes follow their own applicable policies; our retention commitment does not change those periods.

Where we process personal data under our responsibility, we rely on performance of a contract for processing objectively necessary to provide the contracted functions or handle contractual purchase and defect requests. We rely on legitimate interests for general assistance, proportionate troubleshooting, reliability analysis and necessary website delivery and security. These interests are to answer your requests, resolve faults and maintain a reliable service, while limiting the information used, access and retention. Handling statutory privacy requests relies on the applicable legal obligation. Any exceptional retention for a dispute is limited to what is necessary for the relevant legal obligation or for establishing, exercising or defending legal claims. An operating-system permission does not by itself determine the legal basis for every use of data. Apple's own processing is explained in Apple's privacy information.

Who receives information and where?

Support correspondence is handled through the current Gmail address, and the website is hosted by Cloudflare. Apple provides the Apple Music, purchase and beta-testing services described above. These providers may process information outside France or the European Economic Area. Depending on the service and destination, their published transfer arrangements include adequacy decisions, the EU–US Data Privacy Framework for covered transfers, or standard contractual clauses. The applicable arrangements and each provider's own purposes are described in its privacy and service terms. We do not describe the current Gmail account as a Google Workspace account.

Cloudflare also processes some network and security information for its own purposes. User-selected Files and backup providers operate under their own arrangements. Safeguards are described in Cloudflare’s DPA and Google’s transfer frameworks.

Provider privacy information is available from Google, Cloudflare and Apple. These notices supplement this policy; they do not replace the developer's own disclosures.

This website

Cloudflare Pages delivers and protects the pages. Technical connection information can include your IP address, requested URL and browser information.

The website has no advertising, analytics scripts or contact form. Cloudflare Web Analytics is disabled. The pages use system fonts and do not load external font services. The website code does not set cookies or store visitor information in your browser. Cloudflare may use technical measures needed to operate and protect its service.

The developer does not maintain separate visitor request-log archives. Cloudflare may provide dashboard service metrics and retain provider-side information under its own practices. Cloudflare's published retention criteria include the processing purpose, necessity, risk and legal requirements. No single fixed retention period for all Pages traffic has been established; its privacy notice explains its criteria. The 12-month support-email period does not describe website technical-data retention.

Your rights and privacy requests

Under applicable data-protection law, you can request access to your personal information, correction, deletion or restriction of its use. Where processing is based on legitimate interests, you can object on grounds relating to your situation. Where the legal conditions apply, you can request portability. Where processing relies on consent, you can withdraw it at any time without affecting the lawfulness of earlier processing. These rights have legal conditions and exceptions.

Email [email protected] to exercise your rights concerning information handled by the developer. We may ask for proportionate information to confirm your identity. GDPR requests normally receive a response within one month of receipt; if a permitted extension is needed, we will explain the reason within that month. Requests are normally free; exceptions allowed by law may apply.

You can lodge a complaint with the CNIL, the French data-protection authority, or another competent supervisory authority. You do not have to contact support first to make a complaint.

For records held independently by Apple, Google or a backup or Files provider, you can also contact that provider. The developer cannot access or erase all records held independently by these services.

Local deletion and permissions

Delete from My Files removes the app's imported copy, related library entry and artwork. Separate source files and backup copies are managed independently. You can change settings and labels in the app and manage Music permission in device Settings.

Removing the app removes its app-managed local data subject to operating-system behavior and backups. Apple Music information and App Store purchase records are managed through Apple's services. Local information is kept until you change or remove it, remove the app, or the app replaces cached or diagnostic information as described above.

Audience and changes

Otokei is intended for a general audience. It is not specifically directed to children. Please contact support if you believe a child has sent personal information that should be removed.

The developer does not use support correspondence or this website to make solely automated decisions with legal or similarly significant effects on you. Purchase access is checked through Apple's verified transaction information.

This policy will be updated when information practices change. The effective date identifies the published version. Material changes will be explained through appropriate app or website information.
